Director Simbhudevan, who gave the massive hit Imsai Arasan and Arai En 302il Kadavul, has created the same magic for his next bilingual Irumbu Kottai Muratti Singam (Super Cowboy in Telugu). The film also marks the return of the cowboy genre to the Tamil screen after 39 years. The last cowboy movie in Kollywood was released in 1971 with Jai Shankar in the lead. Produced by Kalpathi S. Aghoram under the AGS Entertainment banner, the film, starring noted choreographer-actor-turned-director Lawrence Raghavendra in the lead role, is made with a massive budget of Rs. 20 crores. Irumbu Kottai Murattu Singam is an 18th century subject with much comedy and adventure. Padmapriya and Lakshmi Rai are the heroines. Also in the cast are Saikumar, Sandya, Nasser, Manorama, Senthil, Mouli, Delhi Ganesh and Ramesh Khanna. Dialogues are by Sriramakrishna, lyrics by Vanamali, music by G.V. Prakash and choreography by Lawrence himself. Sandhya appears in a 20 minutes cameo role as a Red Indian princess. Talking about her role, pretty actress Sandhya said, "I think I am the first person in Tamil cinema to play a Red Indian princess. My costumes are so different and designer Sai has done a great job. I make a 20 minute appearance which is vital for the movie." The first schedule took place at a grand set erected in Kerala and the subsequent part was shot in an antique fort erected in Ambasamuthiram by art director Muthuraja. |
